University Players present “Zooman and the Sign”

November 03, 2008The University Players at Elizabeth City State University present "Zooman and the Sign" by Charles Fuller at 8 pm on November 13-15th in the Little Theater, located beside the G. R. Little Library. This 1980 urban tragedy focuses on a distraught father’s search for the killer of his daughter. The young girl was gunned down on the family’s front porch. In the aftermath, the Tate family finds their neighborhood has been rendered powerless by frequent gang violence and police apathy. The victim’s father, Reuben Tate, pleads to his neighbors for information but he is met with icy refusals or indifference. Outraged by their behavior, he posts a sign that rouses the neighborhood to action. This Off Broadway play won an Obie Award (1980) in the playwriting category.
