November 09, 2005The University Players, Elizabeth City State University’s Theatre organization, will present Cheryl L. West’s play "Before It Hits Home" at 8 p.m., November 16, 17, 18, and 19 in the Little Theatre, on the ECSU campus. West’s dynamic play of social consciousness portrays the story of a family whose beliefs in tradition, pride, and integrity are shattered by lies when their son, Wendal Bailey, comes home with AIDS. Will the family be destroyed after learning about his deceptive lifestyle? Will they reunite…before it hits home? The New York Times’ review declared, " Before It Hits Home …is not a play about victimization…It is instead an authentic, at times almost hysterical wake-up call to the black community, sounded from within." Admission prices are $5 for the general public $2 for children 17 and under $4 for senior citizens, ECSU faculty, staff and alumni and $2 for ECSU students. Tickets may be purchased at the door on the evening of performances. Parental discretion is advised for children under age 13. For reservations and additional information regarding the play, please contact Billicia Hines at (252) 335-3436 or e-mail bchines2@mail.ecsu.edu.
