Two cadets commissioned in the ROTC at ECSU

Two cadets in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at Elizabeth City State University were commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. Michael J. Parker, (standing left) a senior from Portsmouth, Va., majoring in Criminal Justice Steven A. Parker, (standing right) a senior from Sunbury, NC, majoring in Biology (Pre-Med) Lt. Col. Vincent Ross, the commanding officer for the ROTC at the university, administered the oath of office. The ROTC at ECSU is proud to be a leading battalion among Historically Black Colleges and the other college battalions where its cadets excel in land navigation training. This year a cadet was selected to attend the prestigious George C. Marshall conference at Virginia Military Institute. The conference is reserved for the nation’s most outstanding cadets. For the third consecutive year, the university ROTC program will send an outstanding cadet to an international internship.
