Three students inducted into history honor society

November 28, 2005Three Elizabeth City State University students were recently inducted into Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society in History–Suzette B. Rodgers, a senior from Gates, NC Garlinda S. Keene, a sophomore from Elizabeth City, NC and Lisa C. Duke, a senior from Kill Devil Hills, NC. Induction into Phi Alpha Theta is one of the highlights of a history undergraduate. Requirements for induction include an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 and a history GPA of at least 3.1. In addition, students must be ranked in the top 35% of one’s class. Phi Alpha Theta, established in 1921 and a charter member of the Association of College Honor Societies, awards over twenty-five scholarships and prizes annually to those best representing the society’s scholastic, professional, and ethical standards. The ECSU chapter is one of over eight hundred chapters of Phi Alpha Theta in the United States.
