Dr. Cheryl Lewis director of the Educational Tent Search Program at Elizabeth City State University received $336623 from the U. S. Department of Education. The Educational Tent Search Program provides comprehensive outreach services to 900 participants by fostering a partnership between Elizabeth City State University and 10 northeastern North Carolina communities to promote educational opportunities for low income and potential first-generation college students. The program provides them with resources and skills needed to excel in college and pursue postsecondary opportunities and rewarding trades and professions.
