Money magazine and Essence name ECSU in top rankings
Money magazine in cooperation with Essence has ranked Elizabeth City State University as one of the top 15 HBCUs in the nation, and one of the top 50 best universities for African-American students.
According to a recent post on Time’s website, ECSU is one of the top value institutions for African-American students based on academic quality, affordability, earning potential and opportunity.
For academic quality a school’s graduation rate for African-American students is one of the best measures, according to the website. To evaluate affordability, Money says they analyzed borrowing, net prices charged to low-income students and the average net price of a degree after subtracting financial aid. Money then used a recent analysis by the Georgetown Center on Education and the Workforce to identify universities that produce high earners.
Elizabeth City State University was named by Washington Monthly as one of the ‘Best Bang for the Buck’ institutions. Washington Monthly also ranked ECSU number one for the fourth consecutive year on its list of ‘Best Baccalaureate Colleges.’ ECSU has 28 undergraduate degree offerings and four graduate degree programs, flexible study options, and research opportunities.
