October 31, 2005 Elizabeth City State University will hold a series of events in conjunction with the 41st International Week, November 1 – November 4. This year’s theme is, "Our Environment, Our Health: Responding to Global Challenges." Participants are encouraged to wear attire from their native country or ethnic background at the following public events: November 1
12 p.m. – 2 p.m., Greg Sampson, of WRVS-FM, hosts a Live Remote Broadcast at the Elizabeth City Waterfront to kick-off ECSU’s 41st International Week 5 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., "Venezuela," a slide show by Mrs. Marcia Broyles, a Spanish teacher at Northside Elementary School in Room #216 of the Student Center 5.30 p.m. – 6 p.m., "A Summer Journey to Nigeria," a slide show in Room #216 of the Student Center 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., "Disasters & Disease," a poster competition: by geology classes and other ECSU students in Rooms #216, #218 and #220 of the Student Center November 2 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., ECSU Student International Experiences in Room #216 of the Student Center. student international travel and study presentations by assorted students 4 p.m., "Global Challenges & Opportunities for ECSU Students," by guest speaker Dr. H. Dawson, director of the Ralph Bunch Center at Howard University, in the Little Theatre. A reception follows. 5 p.m., "Epidemics, Pandemics and Quarantines in the US: Can it really happen?" oral presentations in Room #216 of the Student Center 6:40 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., "Quarantine Plans for Elizabeth City: Preparing for an Outbreak of Bird Flu," student presentations in Room # 216 November 3
6 p.m. – 8 p.m., "The Church Response to International Disaster" a church group panel discussion: in Room #216 of the Student Center November 4
9 a.m. – 8 p.m., "Multicultural Lifestyles," Exhibits by the Office of International Programs, The School of Education & Psychology, Multicultural Class, the Global Leadership Academy K.E. White Center 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., International Week Fashion Show and Poster Competition Awards Ceremony in the K.E. White Graduate Center. "Images from India," a slide show, will also be shown.
