The Department of Technology at Elizabeth City State University celebrates the recent accreditation of the Industrial Technology program by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering. In late October 2010, the Board of Accreditation conducted a hearing of the program with its three areas of concentration – Mechanical and Manufacturing Technology, Computer and Electronics Technology, and Computer Networking Technology. The Industrial Technology program was granted accreditation through November 1, 2015,&nbspwith a report due and on-site visit to be conducted in 2012.
Dr. Mehran Elahi, director of the Department of Technology said this accreditation will be an additional assurance he can share with current and future students.
"Accreditation serves as a quality assurance process for any program and provides a basis for students, parents, faculty and administrators to measure and compare the quality of the program in relation to others. Accreditation of our Industrial Technology program by ATMAE is a valuable marketing tool in recruiting top notch students and faculty and ultimately the placement of the program’s graduates," Elahi said.
The Bachelor of Science degree programs from the Department of Technology are designed to prepare technical professionals for employment in industry, business, government, and education. Graduates of these programs will be prepared for careers in fields that apply principles and concepts from a variety of technical disciplines including computer networks, computer integrated manufacturing, electronic and computer technology, and mechanical and automation technology.
