Elizabeth City State University presents Monica Hargrave, an acclaimed harpist, as a guest performer for the Lyceum Series at 7 p.m. on February 16 in the Robinson Auditorium of the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center. Hargrave boasts a repertoire that includes classical music, Broadway hits, jazz, pop music and the sacred works. Hargrave earned a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from Indiana University School of Music and a Master of Arts in Music from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Hargrave has recorded three CDs, "Divine Time," "Divine Season," and "Harp to Heart." Currently, Hargrave serves as the principal harpist with the Albany (Georgia) and Gainesville (Georgia) Symphony orchestras. She has also performed frequently with the additional Georgia symphonies: Greenville, Macon and Columbus. Over the years, Hargrave has accompanied some of America’s most celebrated recording artists – Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and Johnny Mathis. The Lyceum Series is provided by the university for the community’s cultural enrichment. There is no admission fee.
