Elizabeth City State University Named 2017 Military Friend School
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Elizabeth City State University has been named a Military Friendly School Award recipient for 2017. This is the third consecutive year ECSU has been named to this list.
In 2015 ECSU opened the Veterans and Military Services Center located in Lester Hall. The center provides support for veteran and current military service members as they work on their degrees.
ECSU has also worked with the U.S. Coast Guard to provide education services to the men and women serving on Coast Guard Base Elizabeth City. Last summer ECSU and the Coast Guard signed a memorandum of understanding outlining plans to enhance services to not only base personnel but also all military service members.

ECSU was recently ranked as Best Bet for Vets by the Military Times and has also been ranked for the third year in a row in the top 20 HBCUs in the nation by US News and World Report. ECSU has also been ranked No. 18 out of 50 of the top HBCUs in the country by CollegeChoice.net ranked No. 1 for the fourth consecutive year on Washington Monthly’s list of “Best Baccalaureate Colleges.”
