ECSU’s NASA Mobile STEM Lab Makes Debut Jan. 31
On Tuesday, Jan. 31, it will be hard to miss the 60-foot Elizabeth City State University NASA Mobile STEM Lab as it pulls up to River Road Middle School to make its debut.
In the works for over a year now, ECSU’s Aviation Science Program mobile laboratory is ready to serve the region’s 21 county school districts. There will be a public viewing on the ECSU campus Jan. 31, starting at 10 a.m., before moving over to River Road Middle School at 10:45 a.m., and then to Elizabeth City Middle School at 11:15 a.m.
The lab will consist of at least 10 stations, each designed to offer students the opportunity to experience cutting edge technology firsthand. The stations will cover aviation, technology, and more.
Since the mobile science lab was first announced through social media late last year, a number of regional school districts have called ECSU, hoping to schedule a visit from the lab, according to ECSU Chancellor Thomas Conway. Schools are encouraged to contact the university’s Aviation Science Program to schedule a time for a mobile lab visit.
The public is invited to tour the NASA Mobile STEM Lab Jan. 31, on the campus of ECSU, beginning at 10 a.m. The lab will be located at Dixon Hall, home to the university’s Aviation Science Program.
