ECSU to Recognize Honor Students in Campus Ceremony on April 25
Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) is hosting its Honors Convocation at 3:30 p.m., Tues., April 25, at Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center. The event will recognize over 80 undergraduate students, from various academic departments, who are enrolled full-time and part-time in their programs. Recognition is also given to seven scholars in the University Honors Program who will earn the Honors Blazers for their high academic achievement.
ECSU graduate, Dr. Gieira Jones, is the event’s keynote speaker. Jones is an Associate Director of Research Outcomes at Merck. She is a cancer epidemiologist and has worked for over 10 years leading population-based observational studies across multiple cancer types. She has extensive experience in epidemiologic methods, biostatistics, study design, national survey data, health equity research and molecular biomarker studies.
Dr. Dolapo Adedeji, Director of the ECSU Honors Program and an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Science in the Department of Health and Human Studies, said, “We are very excited to recognize the group of students that are part of the University Honors Program, and other students across all academic programs on campus. These students have excelled in various courses. I am confident that our faculty and their families are proud of them.”
