ECSU selects Teachers of the Year

May 13, 2005Elizabeth City State University announces the selection of six new departmental teachers of the year. Awards are given to the recipients to recognize and reward outstanding instruction and contributions to education. Their names, the department they work in and the number of years worked at ECSU follow: Dr. Sultana Khan, Department of Chemistry and Physics, 27 years
Dr. Margery Coulson-Clark, Department of History and Political Science, seven years
Dr. Michael Winrow, Department of Biology, 10 years
Dr. John Luton, Department of Language, Literature and Communication, four years
Dr. Nwojo Agwu, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science four years
Dr. Brenda Norman, Department of Social Sciences, six years The recipients received a cash award and a trophy. ECSU’s teacher of the year, as selected by the UNC Board of Governors, is Dr. Dipendra Sengupta, a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The first runner up is Professor Ngozi Oriaku of the School of Business and Economics.
