ECSU Releases Five Year Chancellor’s Report Detailing University’s Transformational Growth and Expansion Under Leadership of Dr. Karrie G. Dixon
Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) has released a 2017-2022 Five Year Chancellor’s Report highlighting major university accomplishments under the leadership of Dr. Karrie G. Dixon, who serves as ECSU’s 12th Chief Executive Officer and 7th Chancellor.
The report chronicles strategic growth that has led to year-over-year increases in student enrollment, including the university registering its highest student count since 2014 in Fall 2022. Other key milestones for ECSU include an academic restructuring, a new Aviation Science accreditation and expanded partnerships with North Carolina community colleges. The report also notes the institution’s fiscal sustainability, sizeable growth of endowments for both the Elizabeth City State University Foundation, Inc. and the university, alongside steady increases in private giving. Additionally, Dixon has created new programming to support student success and established innovative collaborations with numerous local, regional, state and national entities. Dixon was named Chancellor of ECSU on December 14, 2018. Prior to her appointment as Interim Chancellor on April 9, 2018, she served as co-lead on the ECSU New Directions Phase 2 Operational Team since early 2017.
