The University of North Carolina Board of Governors recently approved Elizabeth City State University’s request to establish a B.S. degree program in Engineering Technology. The program is part of the Department of Technology and will offer concentrations in computer and information technology and mechanical and automation. A degree in Engineering Technology prepares students for careers in design, installation, operation, computer-based applications and automated systems. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has projected an 86 percent increase in positions among technical workforce fields by the year 2010. ECSU will begin offering the degree program in January 2007.
