Elizabeth City State University proudly announces the 2012 Departmental Teachers of the Year: Dr. Adetayo Victor Adedeji, an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry, Geology and Physics, Dr. Yan "Emily" Jin, an assistant professor the Department of Business Administration, and Dr. Krishna H. Kulkarni, a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Dr. Ebere Oriaku, professor in the Department of Accounting, won the 2012 Board of Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Saundra Copeland, an associate professor in the Department of Education and Psychology, was the first runner-up for the award and Dr. Brenda Norman, a professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, Sociology and Social Work was the second runner-up. One recipient from each of the University of North Carolina public institutions is selected each year.
