Nearly 100 ECSU students, staff and faculty gathered in the courtyard of the Ridley Student Complex Wednesday for a candlelight vigil held in honor of all the victims at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech.) affected by the April 16 shooting. The ECSU Office of Student Activities hosted the event. Various student officers greeted the audience to relay their sympathy for the grieving and recovering students of the Blacksburg, Virginia campus. ECSU Chancellor Willie Gilchrist urged students in the audience to encourage their peers, share compliments for tasks well done and to remain focused on meeting their academic goals. "We don’t know which day will be our last. Let’s make the most of the opportunities we have today," Gilchrist said.
