April 18, 2006The ECSU Foundation will host the ECSU Foundation Annual Drive for Scholarships on April 22, 2006. The event, formerly known as the Clifton Davis Golf Classic, was established in 1996 to bring area and guest golfers to the greens where they competed for awards and raised money for scholarships. Clifton Davis served the university as Vice Chancellor for Development and Planning for one year but remained faithful to the golf classic thereafter. Over the years, the actor lured entertainers, athletes, coaches and assorted professionals to Elizabeth City to raise over $300,000 in scholarship funds. This year, the university will recognize Davis for 10 years of assistance with this successful fundraiser. A schedule of events for the April 22 golf classic follows: 9 a.m. Longest Drive Contest at the Albemarle Plantation 10 a.m. Tee- Off at the Albemarle Plantation, 6:30 p.m. Awards/auction/gala and dinner dance at the K.E.
