ECSU celebrates Black History Month

February 07, 2006 Elizabeth City State University will hold the following events in celebration of Black History Month: February 6 – 28 , 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., room # 133 of the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center: a display of paintings and drawings from five ECSU alumni. The show is organized by the ECSU Art Department. February 8 , 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., in the New Student Center: a panel presentation, Major African American Contributors in Math, Science and Technology February 14 , 1:45 p.m. in the lobby of the New Student Center: music from student jazz musicians, Celebrate Community Voices sponsored by the Department of Language, Literature, and Communication. February 21 , 3:30 – 5:30 p.m., in the G. R. Little Theatre: student presentations Celebrating Diverse Communities throughout History, sponsored by the ECSU Department of History and Political Science February 23 , 2 p.m., in the G. R. Little Theatre: a lecture by Assistant Professor of History Carolyn Mbajekwe, The Future of HBCS, sponsored by the ECSU Department of History and Political Science The national theme for Black History Month is Celebrating Community: A Tribute to Black Fraternal, Social, and Community Institutions.
