Charter Academy Temporarily Moves Operations to K.E. White Center
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – After an environmental assessment of Moore Hall on the campus of Elizabeth City State University was conducted earlier this week it was determined that as a direct result of a recent storm the space occupied by the Northeast Academy for Aerospace and Advanced Technologies is not suitable for use by students at this time.
After a recent tropical weather system created flood conditions in the region excessive mold was discovered in Moore Hall. Currently bids for remediation of the space are being sought by ECSU.
ECSU and NEAAAT are working toward a long-term solution. In the interim the charter academy will be housed at the K.E. White Center on the ECSU campus.
“We are not looking for a stop-gap solution” said NEAAAT CEO Andrew Harris. “Our goal is a sustainable and long-term partnership with ECSU.”
ECSU Chancellor Thomas Conway says the university is committed to the future of NEAAAT. He says that upholding the university’s commitment to advancing high-quality secondary education in the region is important.
“We are currently researching all of the available possibilities working with NEAAAT” says Chancellor Conway. “We are looking forward to building upon this partnership.”
University officials will continue to work with NEAAAT to assist them with providing a quality educational experience for the 269 students enrolled with the academy.
“We are going to work with them through this process” said Chancellor Conway.
