Back to School Bash held on August 24

WRVS-FM 89.9, the university radio station, is collaborating with the N.C. State Law Enforcement Officers Association and Champion Kutz, to hold the 2014 Back to School Bash & Food Drive on Sunday August 24. The public is encouraged to bring non-perishable food as donations to the Food Bank of the Albemarle. The host organizations will in turn provide free haircuts for boys, hairstyles for girls, school supplies for K-12 youth, food, music, and games/activities. The haircuts and hairstyles will be completed 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Robert L. Vaughan Center. The entertainment and distribution of will take place 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., across the street in Roebuck Stadium. While there, meet the staff of WRVS-FM 89.9 and the university station, W18BB-TV. For 27 years, WRVS-FM 89.9 has been the Albemarle’s source of National Public Radio news, sports, gospel, jazz and R&B and more. Staff from the university TV station will also be on hand. W18BB-TV is Elizabeth City State University’s low power television (LPTV) station broadcasting on closed-circuit Channel 18 on the campus of ECSU as well as on Time Warner Cable Channel 22. W18BB-TV is dedicated to producing quality programming designed to entertain, educate and inform the communities of Elizabeth City State University and the city of Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
