Celebrate Arts Day, a free, one-day festival at Elizabeth City State University from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on April 17. The following artists and groups will perform in the amphitheatre of the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center: 3 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.,Student poets share their poetry 3:30 p.m. – 6 p.m., Port Discover will conduct a hands-on science activity for children and give them a microscopic view of insects and plants. The Port Discover staff will also share a list of upcoming programs. 3:30 p.m. – 3:35 p.m., Student/staff clowns perform 3:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.,String Quartet– students, staff and community musicians perform 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., The Collegians Jazz Ensemble presents Big Band Jazz, Latin Jazz, and a special rock performance by the rhythm section 5:45 p.m. – 6 p.m., Bethany Thombley & Saleel Bay (students in the Music Department) perform a scene from "Porgy and Bess" 6:05 p.m.,Pasquotank High School students present a duet 6:10 p.m., Kaylyn Clark a student from Pasquotank High School will perform a rap song 6:15 p.m., The Pink Panther Step Team of Pasquotank High School 6: 30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m., Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity Step Team 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.,Faculty and Community Jazz musicians perform 8:05 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Student poetry readings Face painting, by ECSU Art Department students, and spontaneous clown performances will occur over the evening.
