Border Clash V High School Basketball Invitational Set for January 16 at ECSU

Boys’ Basketball Teams from North Carolina and Virginia to Compete in “The Clash” Sponsored by WRVS and ECSU

WRVS-FM 89.9, Your Community Voice radio station, is proud to announce the fifth annual Robert L. Vaughan Border Clash High School Basketball Invitational scheduled for Monday, January 16, 2023. Varsity boys’ basketball teams from North Carolina and Virginia will compete in eight games on Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Day at the R.L. Vaughan Center on the campus of Elizabeth City State University (ECSU).

Border Clash is the official moniker for the invitational named after North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Hall of Fame member, the late Robert L. “Bobby” Vaughan. The event brings together state high school athletic programs, their fan base, and communities at-large. Border Clash V welcomes the addition of an eighth North Carolina team to the annual roster—South Central High School.

This year’s event will also feature entertainment and a special presentation recognizing Secretary Eddie M. Buffaloe, Jr. of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, who serves as regional supervisor of officials for the Northeastern Officials Association, at the conclusion of the 4:30 p.m. game.

• General admission is $12 and children ages 5 and under are free.
