The Elizabeth City State volleyball team took less than an hour to topple Saint Paul’s College in three sets (25-9, 25-14, 25-4) Tuesday night at the R.L. Vaughan Center. In a match where the top kill leaders Eva Johnson and Chelsea Amick rested, the Lady Viking reserves took center stage and made quick work of the Lady Tigers in 50 minutes. ECSU sophomore outside hitter Keshia Hardy had the best game of her career as a Lady Viking with 7 kills out of 9 attacks against no hitting errors. Xie’Ara Maybank-Smallings led all players with a game high 8 kills (which tied the total output by the SPC team) and a solo block. Saint Paul’s slips to 3-19 overall and 1-10 in the CIAA. ECSU (20-8, CIAA 11-0) will take the court again at a tri-match hosted by Barton College in Wilson, NC on Saturday, October 18. ECSU will battle Pfeiffer at 2:00pm and will take on Barton at 4:00pm.
