Vikings win seventh straight

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Vikings extended their win streak to seven games with a 75-63 win over Fayetteville State University at Felton J. Capel Arena. After the Broncos scored the game’s first two baskets from behind the three-point arc to take an early 6-0 lead, Vikings’ coach Shawn Walker burned and early time out to collect his troops. ECSU then responded with a 10-2 run to take the lead which they did not relinquish for the rest of night. ECSU converted 20 offensive rebounds into a 22-5 second chance point advantage. The Vikings also held the fast break edge 22-14. The largest ECSU lead of the night (58-40) came at the 6:27 mark of the second half. Anthony Hilliard led all scorers with game highs of 26 points and 15 rebounds. Brian West and Matt Nowlin scored 12 and 11 points, respectively. The Broncos (9-11, CIAA -7) placed three players in double figures with Phillippe’ Harris topping FSU with a team high 15 points.
