Vikings standout in the southeast region

October 20, 2006INDIANAPOLIS, IN- The Elizabeth City State University football team is listed as one of the top 12 teams in the Southeast Region as released by the NCAA Division II Football Committee. The Vikings, who currently boast a record of 6-1 overall, have secured the number eight spot for games played through October 14, 2006. Newberry College (7-0) tops the list followed by Wingate (6-1), North Carolina Central (7-0), North Alabama (6-0), Delta State (6-1), Valdosta State (5-1), and Albany (GA) State (5-2). Henderson State, Presbyterian, Lane and Catawba round out the top twelve. Earned access to the playoffs can be gained by a conference if a conference representative finishes in the top 10 of the final regional rankings.
