Vikings defeat FSU Broncos 71-67

Anthony Hilliard, a junior from Fayetteville, NC, scored 23 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead the Elizabeth City State Vikings past Fayetteville State University 71-67 on January 19. The Vikings led the entire contest and shot 49% from the field, their second best offensive output of the season (56 % vs. Barton, 12/6). Olajuwon Johnson, a senior from Richmond, Va., added 14 points for the Vikings as they remain unbeaten at the R.L. Vaughan Center this season. The Vikings outscored the Broncos 36-26 in the paint. Phillipe’ Harris scored a team high 22 points to pace the Broncos (6-10, CIAA 2-6) while Derek Holmes and Jamel Austin each contributed 11 points apiece. ECSU (9-4) will return to action on Tuesday, January 22 when they travel to Chowan University. The game time is scheduled for 7:30pm in Murfreesboro, NC.
