August 25, 2005 ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University football team will kick off their 2005 season on Saturday night at 7 pm versus the Livingstone College Blue Bears at Roebuck Stadium. In the last two meetings between these two teams, each has prevailed on their opponent’s home field. In 2003, the Blue Bears shut out the Vikings 19-0 on September 27th in Roebuck Stadium. ECSU returned the favor last season, holding off a late rally to prevail 14-7 in Salisbury, NC on September 18, 2004. Now entering his third season as the head coach, Waverly Tillar’s Vikings will return 17 starters from last season’s team including 2005 Pre-Season All-CIAA selections Greg Moore, Kevin Dodson and William Riddick. The Blue Bears, under the direction of first year coach Robert Massey, return 14 starters from last season. Kickoff is slated for 7:00pm at Roebuck Stadium. Admission is $10.00 for the general public, free for ECSU students with a valid ID.
