Trahan tops nation in scoring and rebounding

For the reporting week of January 6, 2008 senior All-American Celeste Trahan is the national leader in both scoring and rebounding. When rankings were released on Tuesday, Trahan topped the nation in scoring and rebounding, boasting averages of 23.8 ppg and 17.0 rpg. She also ranks 42nd in field goal percentage, 44th in blocked shots and 63rd in steals. Already the Lady Vikings all-time leader in scoring and rebounding, she currently ranks 9th all-time on the CIAA career leader list with 1,838 points, 1,351 rebounds and 16th in steals with 200. Just recently she was named CIAA Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after scoring a new career high of 36 points against Mount Olive College on January 2. Her current rebounding average gives her the top slot in the nation for the third time in four seasons as she finished her junior year ranked 4th in NCAA Division II. An Education major who holds a 3.2 G.P.A, she will graduate in May of 2008. The Lady Vikings will return home on Saturday January 19 to face the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University.
