Trahan, Owens receive weekly CIAA honors

HAMPTON, VA- Celeste Trahan, the center for the Lady Vikings, and head coach Tara Owens have been named Player and Coach of the Week as released by the CIAA Office Monday afternoon. Trahan, who holds the distinction as the first woman in ECSU history to be named an All-American, had a career week scoring 106 points in four road games. First she scored her 1,000th career point in a win over Johnson C. Smith, a feat that was accomplished in just 57 games. Two nights later against in an overtime win over Livingstone, she matched her career high with 33 points. She ended the week being named the MVP of the 2006 Millennium Hotel Lady Eagle Classic at NC Central posting a double-double against Armstrong-Atlantic on December 1st with 30 points and 14 rebounds. Tara Owens has been tapped as the Coach of the Week after guiding ECSU to four straight road wins last week.
