WRVS-FM, 89.9, Elizabeth City State University’s public radio station, will hold its annual pledge drive "SuccessFest 2009" March 22 -28. The week of events also includes a gospel concert and a play. This year’s theme is "Celebrating Our Community." Cash donations are also accepted. March 27, 6 p.m.,a concert in the auditorium of the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center "Worship Weekend Celebration," will feature national recording artists Norman Hutchins, Rihki Kennebrew as well as "The Virginia Aires" of Chesapeake, Va., Doris Gramby and Sojourners Quartet of Elizabeth City, NC and others. Entry fee is $15 "Morning Joy" radio host, Sheila Lee, will host the concert. March 28, 6 p.m., a play in the auditorium of the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center "Heart’s Cry," a gospel inspired play presented by Powerhouse Productions of Chesapeake, Va. Entry fee is $10 Patrons can purchase tickets for the play and concert for a $20 fee. Proceeds will support daily operations of the radio station. WRVS-FM, 89.9, a public radio station, is funded by grants as well as the gracious contributions from our listeners, underwriters, and private supporters. SuccessFest is the station’s annual pledge drive and was created to raise funds to offset the expenses of daily operations, quality programming, staffing, and equipment upgrades. Because of our listener support, WRVS is able to provide professional training facilities and meaningful experiences in media for Elizabeth City State University students, community volunteers, and local area high school students.
