Students Honored During 2019 Viking Spirit Awards

The Elizabeth City State University Student Government Association in collaboration with the Division of Student Affairs hosted the 2019 Viking Spirit Awards on Friday, April 5 at the Fine Arts Center.  The Viking Spirit Awards recognizes outstanding individual students, clubs and organization, faculty and staff who demonstrate excellence in leadership, scholarship and service and have made a significant stride in the Viking community.

There were more than 70 nominations for 16 categories and the following awards were presented to students:

• Freshmen Viking Achievement – Tyran Loving
• Sophomore Viking Achievement – Tykira Beasley
• Senior Viking Achievement – Trianna Moore
• Emerging Leader – Erica Acheampomaa & Gabrielle Clark
• Sorority Woman of the Year – Tia Broome, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
• Fraternity Man of the Year – Fisher McInville, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
• Students First Faculty & Staff Award
• Bridgett Elliot, Division of Student Success
• Tiffany Hinton, Director of Community Standards
• Residential Life
• Resident Assistant of the Year – DeAirrius Payne
• Rookie of the Year – Sanda Oo
• Community Standards Civility Award – Briana Rountree
• Career Development Center Awards – Briana Rountree
• Student Organization of the Year – True Colors Gay Straight Alliance
• Student Organization Program of the Year – Junior Class Council – “Graduate Me”
• Student Organization Officer of the Year – Wilmon H. Lee, IV, Campus Activities Board, Late Night & Weekend
• IFC Organization of the Year – Nu Gamma Psi Fraternity, Inc.
• NPHC Organization of the Year – Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
• Student Organization Advisor of the Year – Dr. Andre P. Stevenson
• Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs – Viking Pride Award – Erica Acheampomaa and Briana Rountree
• Chancellor’s Viking Excellence Award – Chorn Poyner
• 2019 Campus Compact Newman Civic Fellow – Franck Yao
