SACS commends ECSU on campus safety policies

FOR IMMMEDIATE RELEASE—A Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Special Committee visited Elizabeth City State University April 7-10, to review campus safety and student complaints. After reviewing the university’s written report, university policies and procedures, and interviewing administrators, faculty and students to examine compliance with five standards, the Special Committee has advised us that it has no recommendations to the SACSCOC Board of Trustees. The Special Committee has commended the university for its efforts regarding campus safety, student complaints, Clery compliance, and Title IX. Elizabeth City State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award 34 degrees at the baccalaureate and master’s level. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states. The Commission’s mission is the enhancement of educational quality throughout the region and it strives to improve the effectiveness of institutions by ensuring that institutions meet standards established by the higher education community that address the needs of society and students. # # #
