Elizabeth City State University senior guard Deanna Price notched her fourth career triple-double, helping to propel the Lady Vikings past Bowie State University 80-69 Tuesday evening at the A.C. Jordan Arena in Bowie, Md. Price finished the game with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists en route to beating the Lady Bulldogs to remain undefeated (5-0) in the CIAA Eastern Division. Celeste Trahan led all scorers with 26 points and 8 rebounds while Tanika Hudgins and Joyce Freeman each added 13 points. After training by six early in the contest, the Lady Vikings got a spark from the bench contribution of Joyce Freeman. She dialed and connected from long range on consecutive possessions to tie the game at 14. A few minutes later, ECSU would gain its first lead of the evening with a go ahead 3-pointer from Tanika Hudgins at the 6:07 mark. Hudgins was finished as she would hit from downtown twice more before the intermission and the last one would give the Lady Vikings an 8-point edge with 2:05 to go. ECSU carried a 33-28 lead at the break. As the points in the paint were knotted at 12 in the first half, the Lady Vikings would control the post 20-12 in the second stanza for a plus 12 advantage. As ECSU was paced Price’s all-around play and Trahan’s 20 second half points, Bowie State got balanced contributions from Allyson Swailes and Crystal Johnson. Swailes finished the night with 22 points and a game high 16 rebounds while Johnson contributed 17 points and 6 assists. Bowie State slips to 12-6 overall, 8-4 in CIAA and 2-3 in the Division.
