Nine inducted into Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society

The Department of Language, Literature and Communication announces the latest additions to the Iota Nu Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society: LaDana Ballard, a sophomore from Elizabeth City, N.C., majoring in communication studies, Kikoyta Spencer, a senior from, Fairfield, N.C., majoring in English, Ellen Whelan, a senior from Hertford, N.C., majoring in music composition, David Hanson, a senior from Moyock, N.C., majoring in criminal justice, Skylah Gary, a junior from Roanoke Rapids, N.C., majoring in English, Sierra Gary, a junior from Roanoke Rapids, N.C., majoring in English, Lauren Rook, a teacher certification student from Elizabeth City, N.C., majoring in middle grades language arts, Leland March, a senior from Elizabeth City, N.C., majoring in English, Chike Egbuna, a senior from Brentwood, N.Y., majoring in pharmaceutical science. A member of the Association of College Honor Societies, it Sigma Tau Delta, was founded in 1924 at Dakota Wesleyan University. The Society strives to confer distinction for high achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies provide, through its local chapters, cultural stimulation on college campuses and promote interest in literature and the English language in surrounding communities foster all aspects of the discipline of English, including literature, language, and writing promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its members exhibit high standards of academic excellence and Serve society by fostering literacy.
