The ECSU Vikings won their third straight game on January 9 by defeating Shaw University 99-78 at C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium in Raleigh, NC. For the second time within the last three games senior guard Devin Mooring netted a new career high leading all scorers with 32 points. Mooring, who went 5-8 from behind three-point arc in the first half, had 21 points at the intermission to help lift ECSU to a 42-34 lead. The Vikings did not let up in the second half of play as they scored 57 points, their highest point total for a half this season. A large part of the second half scoring outburst was the play of Anthony Hilliard who scored 18 of his 20 points in the second stanza. C.J. Pigford added 12 points to round out the double figure scorers for ECSU. The Vikings out-rebounded their opponents 40-27 and scored 37 points off of 22 Bear turnovers. The Bears (2-10, CIAA 0-5) also placed three in double digits with Damola Abadina leading the way with a team high 17 points. The Vikings ((7-4, CIAA 4-1) will return to action on Saturday, January 13, 2007 as they welcome Livingstone College to the R.L. Vaughan Center.
