February 20, 2005Freshman standouts Martin Chavious and Celeste Trahan have each been named CIAA Rookie of the Week. Both Chavious and Trahan have received rookie honors multiple times this season as it marks the fifth recognition for Chavious while Trahan captures her seventh rookie accolade. Chavious, a 5-11, guard from Chapel Hill, NC scored 10 points, dished out 3 assists and added one steal in the Vikings 65-63 loss to North Carolina Central University last Tuesday. In two Lady Vikings wins last week (NC Central and Virginia State), Trahan averaged 12.5 points and 16 rebounds with her best outing coming against the Lady Eagles with 18 points, 22 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists. The Lady Vikings and Vikings will hold their final home game of the 2004-2005 basketball season tomorrow, February 22 as they play host to Bowie State University. It will also be senior night at the RL Vaughan Center with game times slated for 5:30 and 7:30pm.
