The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings extended their home win streak to six games in an 82-66 win over Chowan University Tuesday night at the RL Vaughan Center. Celeste Trahan led the Lady Vikings with 24 points and a game high 13 rebounds while Ashley Bowman and Tiffany Smith finished with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Deanna Price rounded out the double figure scorers for ECSU contributing 10 points, 5 assists and 7 steals. Price currently leads the nation in steals with an average of 5.1 per game. The Lady Vikings led the entire game mainly because of their domination on the glass. ECSU held a 27-12 offensive rebounding edge and was plus 17 (47-30) for the game. Additionally their offensive rebounds led to 28 second chance points. The Lady Hawks kept the game competitive by shooting 56% from behind the 3-point arc (9-16). Just the opposite the Lady Vikings went 0-8 from downtown, just the second time this season they failed to connect from behind the 3-point line. Chowan (8-10) was paced by Lauryn Perry who came off the bench to score a game high 26 points. AJ O’Bannion and Alicia McMorris added 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Lady Vikings (11-5) will return to action on Thursday, January 25th as they will play host to Saint Paul’s College. Game time is scheduled for 5:30pm at the RL Vaughan Center.
