Hilliard named to pre-season All-CIAA Men’s Basketball Team

October 12, 2006 CHARLOTTE, NC- Anthony Hilliard, a sophomore guard on the Elizabeth City State University men’s basketball team, has been voted to the 2006-07 Pre-Season All-CIAA Men’s Basketball team. Both the pre-season team and the predicted order of finish are selected by the CIAA Men’s Basketball Coaches Association. Hilliard, a native of Fayetteville, NC was a member of the 2006 CIAA All-Rookie Team as a freshman. Last year he was the Vikings fifth leading scorer at 6.6ppg and their third best rebounder with an average of 4.7 per contest. Both the pre-season team and the predicted order of finish were announced at the annual CIAA Basketball Media and Coaches Exchange held at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC Wednesday afternoon. The Vikings were picked to finish fourth in the CIAA Eastern Division ahead of Shaw University and Saint Paul’s College. Three-time defending CIAA Champion Virginia Union was voted to finish first followed by Bowie State and Virginia State. On the other side, the Western Division has Saint Augustine’s finishing first followed by Johnson C. Smith, N.C. Central, Fayetteville State and Livingstone College.
