Hampton Inn cheers on the Vikings! ECSU officials celebrate a new glass case of university memorabilia in the lobby of the Hampton Inn in Elizabeth City. Standing left to right: Mr. Thurlis Little, ECSU Athletics Director Coach Jody Williams, CIAA Bowling Coach of the Year ECSU Chancellor Willie J. Gilchrist and Coach Lavern Jones, ECSU Golf team. The case highlights another successful year in athletics for the Vikings-CIAA championships in volleyball and bowling. The football team clinched the 2009 CIAA Eastern Division title. The CIAA named two ECSU athletes as Player of the Year in their prospective sports, Eva Johnson (volleyball) and Anthony Hilliard (basketball). The CIAA also formally acknowledged Waverly Tillar and Linda Bell as CIAA Coach of the year in football and volleyball, respectively.
