Young women looking for an opportunity to explore the growing world of drone aviation came to Elizabeth City State University in June to attend the ECSU/NASA Drone Exploration Academy. It was a chance for these young aviators to explore the world of drones, drone programming, and flight.
The students stayed on campus while going through an array of courses designed to introduce them to drones and the vast potential these unmanned aerial vehicles have in the world today. Students learned drone basics, as well as programming for flight.
Aside from course work, the students also took a field trip to the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kill Devil Hills. The course culminated in a drone obstacle course that they constructed and maneuvered through in a friendly competition.
