Coach Waverly Tillar, the head football coach at ECSU, has been named CIAA Coach of the Week according to a CIAA news release. Coach Tillar and the Vikings captured their second CIAA Eastern Division Championship in the past three seasons with their 39-9 win over Saint Paul’s this past Saturday. ECSU is 6-0 against CIAA opponents in 2008 and the Vikings are now the first team since the conference championship game’s resurrection in 2000 to secure their Championship berth before the final weekend of competition. After Saturday’s game, Coach Tillar gathered with the Vikings to congratulate them on winning the homecoming game. The Vikings (6-3, CIAA 6-0) will close out the regular season on Saturday, November 1st as they host Virginia Union University for Senior Day 2008.
