People may be staying at home but that hasn’t stopped WRVS-FM and W18BB-TV from holding the annual M.E.D.I.A. Week event, April 27-May 1. This year’s weeklong event is online and according to Elizabeth City State University’s director of television and radio services, Melba Smith, there’s a great line-up.
“The radio and television stations have affirmed their commitment to expanding media education and supporting the professional development of the students they serve,” said Ms. Smith.
As a result, M.E.D.I.A. Week 2020 (Media Education Does Inspire Achievement) will include three virtual one-on-one sessions with industry professionals. Two of the presenters are ECSU graduates.
The third presenter is a nationally-known radio personality and host of “From the Press Box to Press Row with Donal Ware,” currently carried on WRVS 89.9. The three virtual sessions will take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Students are also encouraged throughout the week to spend time updating their resumes, searching the website Handshake for potential internship and job opportunities, and watching Careerspots videos to assist with career readiness – all made available through the ECSU Career Development Center.
M.E.D.I.A. Week virtual sessions are open to all interested ECSU students and faculty. They are available on Zoom.
