ECSU welcomes award winning trumpeter Sean Jones

FOR IMMMEDIATE RELEASE—The Department of Visual and Performing Arts presents the fourth Elizabeth City State University Jazz Festival at 7:30 p.m. on April 25 at the auditorium of the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center. This year’s special guest is award winning trumpeter Sean Jones. He is an educator and the former lead trumpet player of Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra in New York which is directed by Wynton Marsalis. Jones is touring the nation with his own group. He will join the Collegians Jazz Ensemble as a featured soloist in performing music written by Thelonius Monk, Chuck Mangione and others. The evening will open with the festival debut of the ECSU Percussion Ensemble and will also feature a student jazz vocalist. The admission fee is $10 for adults but no fee for students who present their current school ID at the entrance door. Children under 12 admitted free.
