ECSU Professor of Creative Writing Dr. Jim Goar Gives Poetry Reading Nov. 14
Elizabeth City State University’s professor of creative writing and literature, Dr. Jim Goar, will give a reading of his poetry Thursday, Nov. 14.
As part of the Department of English and Digital Media Faculty Research Series, Dr. Goar will read selected poems from his published books and “ongoing poetry project.” He is the author of published poetry collections, “The Dustbowl” (Shearsman Books), “The Louisiana Purchase” (Rose Metal Press), and “Seoul Bus Poems” (Reality Street).
Dr. Goar’s work has been anthologized in “Dear World & Everyone In It: New Poetry in the UK” (Bloodaxe Books). His poems have appeared in the Harvard Review, Poetry Wales, Cimarron Review, Cream City Review, and OmniVerse.
A native of San Francisco, Dr. Goar received his MFA from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, and his doctorate from University of East Anglia in Norwich, England.
Dr. Goar teaches creative writing and 20th century literature at ECSU. His reading will be at 3:30 p.m., in room 138 of Johnson Hall.
