ECSU offers new course and minor to address Homeland Security

August 21, 2005 Elizabeth City State University announces a new course that begins this fall, which is part of a new minor in Public Health and Sanitation. This 5-course program prepares students for careers that address homeland security. New and existing students, as well as the community are encouraged to register for the introductory course offered this fall. The course offered fall 2005 is Course PHS 110 – Introduction to Public Health – the first of five courses being offered as part of the minor in Public Health & Sanitation. These courses prepare students for careers in emergency response, technical health care, homeland security, bioterrorism, and as a registered health inspector. The course will be offered Wednesday evenings, 6-8:50 p.m., through the Department of Geological, Environmental and Marine Sciences. New students can register on Saturday, August 20 from 9 am until 3 pm at the K. E. White Center on the campus of ECSU. Registration will continue on Monday, August 22 and 23. Students can also register on the first evening of class, Wednesday, August 24, at 6 pm in room 321 of the Jenkins Science Center. For more information, contact Dr. Lloyd Mitchell, at 252/335-3693.
