FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—-On Saturday, May 17th the Office of Admissions and Recruitment at Elizabeth City State University will offer a free institutional SAT test for up to 70 high school senior applicants. This service is reserved for applicants who have submitted an ECSU admissions application for fall 2014 entry. Eligible applicants must meet the minimum, required grade point average, 2.5. Of particular interest are those who currently have scores that fall right under the minimum SAT or ACT score requirement. This opportunity is intended for students who have had limited opportunities to take standardized tests. According to Myron Burney, interim director of Admissions and Recruitment, this opportunity will allow capable students to enroll in a four year-university in the fall. As universities in the University of North Carolina system become more selective, students should view ECSU as one of the system’s most accessible and the most affordable, four-year institutions in the state. Because standardized test scores are not the strongest indicators of college readiness, most students benefit from repeated testing and preparatory measures. Prospective students must meet the test minimum (800 critical reading & math areas) to enroll in a state public university. They must have demonstrated by high school academic achievement that they can complete college level work. For more information, contact Myron Burney, ECSU Office of Admissions and Recruitment in the Marion D. Thorpe Administration Building, 252-335-3304 or mgburney@ecsu.edu This institutional SAT test can only be used for admission consideration at ECSU.
