ECSU hosts CIAA Student Athlete Advisory Committee Action Academy

October 23, 2006The Elizabeth City State University Intercollegiate Athletics Department is this year’s host of the CIAA Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Action Academy to be held on Wednesday October 25, at the Ridley Student Center Complex. Invited guests include North Carolina Central University, Saint Augustine’s College, Shaw University and representatives from the CIAA Conference Office. The SAAC Action Academy is a unique program that provides tools for athletes and their coaches to understand communication styles, develop human relations skills and perspectives, and honor personal and team values. By creating an environment that uses sport as a metaphor, student-athletes will have the opportunity to explore life issues, as well as learn and enhance skills to establish and honor personal and team goals, and better understand how life choices can impact personal and team success. This year’s session topics will focus on Communications Strategies and Ethics and Issues in Athletics. ECSU welcomes these CIAA institution and conference office representatives to the campus.
