Elizabeth City State University hosted a grand opening and dedication ceremony March 7 for the Walter N. and Henrietta B. Ridley Student Complex. Standing left to right for the ribbon cutting is Mr. James Stratford, Student Government Association President Miss Carleta Ricks, Miss ECSU Dr. Helen M. Caldwell, Professor Emeritus & former Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Mr. Walter Davenport, chairman of the ECSU Board of Trustees Chancellor Mickey L. Burnim Mr. Phillip G. Freelon, president of The Freelon Group Architects. Funding for the Student Center resulted from the UNC Bond Referendum passed in 2000 by the citizens of North Carolina.
