ECSU celebrates International Week Nov. 13-17

Elizabeth City State University will celebrate International Week, November 13-17 with a series of events. The theme for the week is &quotInternational Education: Engaging in Global Partnerships and Opportunities.&quot November 13 2 pm., Ribbon cutting ceremony in celebration of International Week in the boardroom of the G.R. Little Library November 14 3 pm, a seminar on Uruguay by Dr. Glen Bowman, associate professor in the Department of History &amp Political Science November 15 Student’s Day 2 pm, &quotHotel Rwanda&quot in the theater of the New Student Center 4 pm, UNC-EP Student Exchange Program in Bedell Hall (Cafeteria) and faculty presentations: Dr. Glen Bowman speaks on Uruguay Dr. Lloyd Mitchell speaks on Israel Dr. Paula Viltz speaks on Brazil Dr. Ngozi Oriaku speaks on Australia Dr. Bonita Ewers speaks on South Africa Dr. Jose Gil speaks on Mexico 5 pm, The History of Modern Stepping by the Pan Hellenic Council 6 pm, Yoga Relaxation with Jay Dhariwal in the Wellness Center November 16 10 am, annual assembly in the auditorium of the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Complex, in observation of American Education Week with guest speaker Dr. Nettie Collins Hart, superintendent of Bertie County School System. Area Teachers of the Year will be recognized as will ECSU Teachers of the Year. November 17 6 pm, International Week Dinner in the K. E. White Graduate Center. The event includes greetings from members of the International Week Committee members Dr. Willie J. Gilchrist, interim chancellor of ECSU and poster displays a performance by a folk dancing troupe, a slide show, a fashion show and dinner. Participants are encouraged to wear attire that reflects their native country or attire from another country.
